Toll tags are made mandatory from 1 January 2015.

The 10th of October 2014, the Norwegian Government adopted the regulations on mandatory toll tags for heavy commercial vehicles above 3.5 tonnes. The regulations are now in effect as of the 1. January 2015.

The regulations apply to all traffic involving Norwegian and foreign commercial vehicles with a permitted total weigh of more than 3.5 tonnes on the entire Norwegian road network. They apply to heavy goods vehicles that are registered by enterprises, government agencies, county administrations and municipalities or that otherwise are used primarily for commercial purposes.

These vehicles must have a tag valid for heavy goods vehicles linked to their registration number. The tag must be affixed to the windscreen. Those in violation will be subject to a fine of NOK 8 000 if detected when checked. The Norwegian Public Roads Administration, Norwegian Customs and Excise and the police are authorised to carry out checks.

If you do not have a tag, make sure to acquire one ahead of time. Order your AutoPASS right now. If you already have a tag, make sure that this is linked to the vehicle’s registration number.

Tags valid in Norway include Norwegian AutoPASS tags and tags approved by the EasyGo partnership. Use of these tags entitles you to a ten percent discount on most Norwegian toll roads.
